Three-Point Barrages Lead Owatonna Basketball Teams to Victory
The Owatonna boys' basketball team hit a dozen three-pointers in their 88-49 win over Chisago Lakes Area to take third place in the Federated Tournament. The OHS girls drained ten threes in their victory over top-ten rated Alexandria 64-50 at the Cardinals holiday tournament.
The OHS boys stormed out to a 54-25 halftime lead, hitting nine three-pointers in the first half. Dalton Kubista scored 28 points. Nolan Malo added 15, Steven Eckard scored 14 and Jared Fett contributed 11. The Huskies were 14-for-16 on free throws and forced 24 turnovers. Owatonna (3-3) hosts Rochester John Marshall Tuesday, January 2.
Minnetonka won the Federated Tournament 63-62 over Burnsville on a late free throw. Owatonna lost to the Skippers 68-64 on Wednesday.
The OHS girls topped Alexandria 64-50 to split their games at the tournament. Sydney Schultz scored 24. Jenna Zeman put in 12. Owatonna lost to Buffalo Wednesday 69-64. The Huskies (5-4) travel to John Marshall Tuesday.
Owatonna girls' hockey topped Marshall 4-1 Thursday in the first round of the Schwan's Cup and will play Rochester Mayo Friday night at 8PM in Blaine.
The NRHEG boys' basketball squad defeated Lake Crystal-Welcome-Memorial 72-24 and will wrap up play in the Bethany Lutheran Tournament Friday. The Panther girls beat Alden-Conger 78-59 to win the semifinal game in their own tournament. NRHEG plays St. Charles in the title game Friday in New Richland at about 6:30PM.
The Triton girls lost to Randolph 48-44 in the title game of the Rockets' tournament.
