It's safe to say the Panthers reign atop the Big Nine Conference boys hockey standings is over. Century has won the last three league titles, but Tuesday was their fourth straight loss. Owatonna has finished second in the conference standings the last two seasons and was third three seasons ago.

On Tuesday, the Huskies scored 46 seconds into the contest on a sharp shot from Wyatt Oldefendt from the top of the right circle. (See the full score sheet from Hockey Hub.) Casey Johnson notched his first goal of the season and added three assists to his team-leading total, which now stands at ten.

Joey Dub scored twice, only a few days after getting his first varsity goal. Aaron Bangs ran his goal-scoring streak to three straight games. Both he and Dub had their first goals in last Thursday's win over Northfield. OHS outshot Century 52-18. (Final: Owatonna 9, Century 2)

Zach Kubicek, Taylor Bogen, and Tanner Stendel all scored as well. Preston Meier got the win in goal. Owatonna (5-1) is scheduled to host Red Wing Thursday, February 4.

The OHS girls scored a pair of quick goals in the first and outshot the Panthers 40-12 for their second win of the season over Century/JM. Molly Achterkirch had two goals and two assists. A number of players ended the night with one goal and two assists, including CJ Frear-Boerner, Lillian Hunst, Olivia Herzog, Anna Herzog, Ezra Oien, and Macy Stanton. Ava Wolfe made 12 saves for her second shutout of the season.
