Jessica "Betty" VonRuden scored all four goals in Owatonna's 4-3 win at Rochester Mayo. The OHS boys dropped a 3-2 decision at Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.

VonRuden's first goal was a spectacular shot, tucking a backhand over the shoulder of the goalie and just below the crossbar with an assist from her younger sister Jenna "Rosie." Betty added two power play markers and one more at even strength to bring her team-leading total to 11 goals. Owatonna's defensive corps of Peyton DeVinny, Rilee Schmidt, Jamie Davison, Chloe Schmidt and Kiley Friedrichs blocked numerous shots and passes. Laura Ebeling got the win in goal, stopping a breakaway attempt by the Spartans in the third period.

Jessica VonRuden was named the Kottke Jeweler's diamond player of the game.

The Huskies out shot Mayo 29-17. OHS went 2-for-2 on the power play. Mayo was 1-for-4. Owatonna (5-2) hosts defending Big Nine champ Rochester John Marshall on Thursday, December 3.

Boys Hockey: Mayo 3, Owatonna 2

The Mayo boys jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on their way to a 3-2 win Tuesday night in Owatonna. Carter Broton cut the lead in half in the second period with an assist from Noah Scheid. Owatonna tied the game midway through the third on a goal from Kade Friedrichs with assists from Scheid and Kodey Kiel. Mayo scored the game winner on the power play with less than three minutes remaining.

Owatonna out shot Mayo 23-17. The Huskies (0-2) host Century Saturday night at 7PM. The Steele County Blades host Blaine at 1PM Saturday in junior hockey action at Four Seasons in Owatonna.
