Northfield scored a pair of goals 35 seconds apart in the closing minute of the second period and went on to a 3-1 win over Owatonna in a girls' hockey game at the Four Seasons Centre Thursday night. The Raider's fortune erased the Huskies 1-0 lead established on Margo Achterkirch's 28th goal of the season midway through the second period.

Farmington's girls basketball team had a big second half to rally past Owatonna 71-59 Tuesday. A few miles away the Tigers' girls hockey team scored four times in the second period to spark their 7-1 win over Owatonna.

Over a three-day span beginning Thursday, teams in three sports will earn trips to the state tournament.

The Owatonna girls hockey season ended with a 3-0 loss at Northfield on Saturday in the Section 1A semifinals.
