Friday, May 20, the American Showcase at the Steele County History Center features an artist who moved from Tennessee to Minnesota and a Minnesotan group.

The Steele County Historical Society welcomes Chasity Brown to town. Brown grew up in Tennessee and eventually moved to Minneapolis. Her music is a combination of indie, soul, rock, blues and country. She has praises from National Public Radio, CMT and American Songwriter.

Chasity's band includes Robert Mulrennan on guitar, Luke Enyeart on guitar, deVon Gray with keyboards, Jim Anton on bass and Greg Schutte with percussion, according to her website.

Besides the History Center, Brown will be in Minneapolis at Mill City Nights on Saturday, May 21, and Excelsior's 318 Cafe on Friday, June 3. She then goes to the East Coast and also in the south. She will be in North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, Tennessee and Maine. Brown was in Minneapolis with other musicians and played a tribute to Prince on First Avenue.

Along with Chasity Brown, Six Mile Grove's Brandon Sampson and John Wheeler will be performing on Friday.

Brandon Sampson is from Lyle, Minn. He was very young when he started playing the guitar as part of rehab after he injured his hand.

His younger brother, Brian, started playing the drums forming Six Mile Grove with Brandon singing. Their friend Barry Nelson joined by playing keyboards, electric guitar and singing. Dezi Wallace joined in by playing bass. John Wheeler also joined and plays the steel guitar, dobro and the accordian. At times Bob Wootton, Johnny Cash's guitarist, has joined them.

Americana Showcase at the Steele County History Center, 1700 Austin Road, in Owatonna will feature Chasity Brown and members of Six Mile Grove Brandon Sampson and John Wheeler on Friday, May 20. Doors open at 6:30PM, music at 7:30PM.
