The Owatonna High School gymnastics squad captured the Faribault Invitational Saturday, January 4 for the second straight year. The Huskies scored 142.0 points at the 42nd annual event. OHS faces Northfield Thursday, January 9 at Farmington Gymnastics and Cheer at 6:30 pm. The Huskies are ranked 11th in the state poll while the Raiders are No. 10.

Owatonna has just one home meet left on Thursday, January 16. Mankato West and Mankato East, who are both top ten ranked in Class A, will be the opponents that day. OHS gymnastics recently held a fundraiser for a local elementary student battling cancer.

Owatonna's wrestlers finished 3-3 in The Clash National Wrestling Duals at Rochester Community and Technical College over the weekend. The Huskies placed third in the third bracket, essentially finishing 11th overall in the 32-team event.

On Friday the Huskies edged Washington (IL) 31-25, lost to Don Bosco (IA) 48-16, and beat Liberty-Peoria (AZ) 40-25. On Saturday, OHS beat Wayzata 41-22, lost to defending Minnesota Class A champ Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-Browerville 55-21, and fell to Vacaville (CA) 33-29. Vacaville went 3-0 on Saturday to win the bracket.

The Huskies go to Albert Lea Thursday, January 9 for a 7 pm dual with coverage on AM 1390 KRFO and the KRFO app. OHS will compete at the Mustang Duals in Mounds View Saturday, January 11.

Shakopee won the 1st-place bracket at The Clash, which inlcuded a 30-26 win over St. Michael-Albertville. Waverly-Shell Rock (IA) and Minisink Valley (NY) also competed in the championship bracket.

In other local sports Saturday, Mankato East beat the Huskies in boys basketball 63-33 and No. 2-AA Caledonia topped No. 1-AA Waseca 81-73 in a game held at the Mayo Civic Center. The NRHEG girls hoops team lost to Fairmont 80-49. Benilde-St. Margaret's beat Dodge County 5-1 on Girls Hockey Day in Kasson.
