Tremendous Crowd Watches Owatonna Homecoming Parade
The streets throughout downtown Owatonna were jam packed with Huskies' fans for the annual homecoming parade. Floats proclaimed that Cougars would be conquered, booted, caged and lit up. The football team obliged later in the day with their 48-0 win over Mankato East.
Great weather made for a good end to homecoming week after rain forced the cancellation of the kickball game on Monday. The new format this year included a pep fest to start the week with the crowning of Margo Achterkirch and Noah Budach as queen and king.
The other homecoming queen candidates were Lauren Hylle, Jade Huseby, Sophie Amundsen, Jamie Davison, Rilee Schmidt, Jasmynn Stechmann, Talia Fladager, Hannas Fisher, Erin Peterson, Marie Otterson and Syd Schultz.
Homecoming king candidates included Bryce Knutson, Dawson Leer, Zach Mensink, Ben Stelter, Kadyn Mulert, Said Abdullahi, Nick Hagen, Nolan Malo, Peyton Robb, Spencer Glynn and Abe Havelka.
Chuck Jamison, who recently retired as Owatonna's Young Life director was the Grand Marshall.
