Owatonna's girls tennis team swept past Faribault 7-0 in the opening round of the Section 1AA tournament. The match was held at the West Hills Tennis Center due to the rainy conditions. The Huskies will likely go to Lakeville North for Thursday's quarterfinals.

The fifth-seeded Huskies won in straight sets at every spot against the 12th-seeded Falcons except No. 3 doubles where Jade Hanson/Nicole Skalicky won 6-2, 2-6 (10-8). At No. 1 doubles Caitlynne Bussert/Leah Tucker won 7-6, 6-3. Liv Matejcek/Alex Huemoeller took their match 6-4, 6-2.

In singles, Sara Anderson won 6-1, 6-1, Megan Johnson won 6-0, 6-1, Olivia Herzog dominated 6-0, 6-0, and Olivia McDermott prevailed 6-1, 6-1. The Huskies improved to 13-6 overall on the season with the win. Two of Owatonna's losses have come 4-3 to North, who is ranked 10th in the state.

Owatonna girls soccer won 2-0 at Winona in the rain Tuesday. Grace Wolfe scored in the first half off an assist from Ezra Oien. Wolfe assisted on Asia Buryska's second half goal. OHS hosts Rochester John Marshall Thursday at 7 pm at Lincoln. A win for Owatonna will earn them a share of the Big Nine title. Mankato West wrapped up their second straight title with a win on Tuesday that ended their regular season schedule.

The OHS boys won 4-2 Tuesday over Winona on Senior Night. The Huskies close their regular campaign Thursday, October 3 at John Marshall with coverage on AM 1390 KRFO and on the app.

Huskies volleyball played an extremely close opening set with Rochester Mayo at the Owatonna gym, but the Spartans won the match 3-0. Scores were 25-23, 25-17, 25-6. OHS hosts Austin Thursday.
