Owatonna Teams Pile up the Victories
Owatonna High School teams traveled north, west and east Thursday and came home with victories. The wrestlers had the longest trip with a journey to Winona where they pinned the Winhawks 66-13. Their much anticipated home opener against Albert Lea is coming up Thursday, January 11 on KRFO AM 1390.
OHS boys' basketball dominated Rochester Mayo Thursday 79-51. After trailing early, Owatonna shot extremely well overall. Dalton Kubista scored 22. Andrew Jackson had ten points and 11 rebounds. The Huskies go back to Rochester Saturday, January 6 to play Century.
Huskies' boys' hockey bounced back from a 4-0 loss to Rochester JM Tuesday with a 4-1 win at Northfield Thursday. Nate Smith scored twice. Jacob Stoykovich and Mitch Wiese also scored. OHS plays at East Ridge on Tuesday, January 9 on KRFO AM 1390.
The top-five ranked Owatonna gymnastics team put up its highest score of the season Thursday in Mankato of 147.525 to outdistance Mankato East and West High Schools. The Huskies are at Faribault Saturday, January 6 for an invitational. Owatonna's boys' swimmers lost to Mankato West 94-86 at the middle school. They compete at Austin Saturday.
Around the region, NRHEG girls' basketball edged WEM 53-52 and Medford downed Randolph 54-40.
In boys' buckets, Mankato East beat Rochester John Marshall 75-63 in a battle of top-ten ranked teams.
