The Owatonna High School boys hockey team scored a pair of goals less than two minutes apart in the second period on their way to a 5-2 win over Faribault in a makeup game at Four Seasons Centre Monday night. It was the second straight win for the Huskies since a 2-1 loss at Rochester Century Thursday and their fifth in the last six games.

OHS struck first barely over three minutes into the game as a blast from Devon Rousch appeared to deflect off a Falcons skater into the net past Spencer Ell. Faribault evened the game on a power play 10:29 into the first period on a marker by Leighton Weasler.

Faribault went up 2-1 five-and-a-half minutes into the second period. Zach Siegert slapped it past Owatonna goalie Zach Wiese off an assist from Weasler.

The game swung in Owatonna's favor later in the second. Dom Valento sniped the puck into the net off a feed from Zach Kubicek at 12:41 to make the score 2-2. OHS went ahead at 14:22 on a backdoor pass to Tanner Stendel from Taylor Bogen for a 3-2 lead. Bogen made a strong play through the neutral zone with a back checker hanging on him.

Valento notched his second goal 10:30 into the third, again with the assist from Kubicek. Stendel capped the scoring with a power play goal in the closing minute with a helper from Aaron Bangs.

The Huskies beat Mayo Saturday 5-1 on Dudley Otto Rink. The Spartans scored five minutes into the game, but OHS evened it up on a goal by Bogen. The game was 1-1 at first intermission. Owatonna out shot Mayo 23-7 the rest of the way. Bogen added another goal. Valento, Wyatt Oldenfendt, and Austin Mundt also scored.

Owatonna (18-5 overall) plays at Mankato East Tuesday, February 11 at 7:15 pm and closes the regular season at home Saturday, February 15 against Hastings at 3 pm.
