The Huskies trailed Rochester Mayo by five at the half but outscored the Spartans 47-29 in the second half and won 79-66 Friday night at OHS.

Owatonna looked to go to the hoop more in the second half after shooting 3-for-15 on three-point attempts in the first half. Coach Josh Williams said the improved half-court defense in the second half was a key to the victory. Dalton Kubista poured in 29 points with a trio of three pointers. Jay Sullivan scored 15 points to go along a team-leading seven rebounds, five assists and no turnovers.

Jason Williamson added 12 and Andrew Jackson chipped in eight. Each player had a dunk in the closing minute as the Huskies (4-3, 3-2 in Big Nine) finally shook off the persistent Spartans (2-7, 1-4). Owatonna plays a home makeup game with Winona Saturday night at 7:30PM.
