Owatonna Boys Lacrosse Earns Shutout in Home Opener
Owatonna whipped Mankato 12-0 in their home opener Monday, their second straight victory, to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Goalie Ryan Johnson stopped 18 shots and had a phenomenal night, according to coach Scott Seykora, who said he made some great saves. Josh Nelson scored five goals. Nate Smith had a goal and four assists. Mitchell Wiese and Noah Brandt each scored twice. Tyler Johnson and Ryan Haberman each added a goal.
OHS hosts Rochester Century on Thursday at 6:30PM. Seykora says Century is the top Rochester team. The Panthers lost 8-7 to Northfield on Monday. The Raiders rallied past Owatonna by one goal Friday.
Owatonna baseball dropped an 11-7 final to top-rated Minnetonka at Fuller Field at Dartts Park on Monday. The Huskies led 7-5 after four innings. The Skippers plated three runs each in the sixth and seventh innings. OHS is scheduled to play at Mankato East on Tuesday at 6:30PM on Kat Kountry 105 FM, although the forecast may put that plan to the test.
The Huskies boys golf team finished fifth at Somerby in Byron Monday. Andrew Wall and John Swenson tied for sixth place.
In local baseball, Faribault Bethlehem Academy got a walk-off win 7-6 over Blooming Prairie, JWP blanked NRHEG 4-0, Maple River broke a 2-2 tie with runs over the final two innings for a 5-2 victory at Medford, and Kasson-Mantorville shut out Triton 8-0.
Among the softball games Monday, Blooming Prairie topped Bethlehem Academy 7-4, powered by Julia Worke's first career varsity home run. Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial held off a comeback attempt by NRHEG to win 12-11.
