Owatonna Boys Face Top Teams This Week
The Owatonna High School boys' basketball team has played a pair of top-ten ranked Class AAAA teams already this season. This week the Huskies play a pair of top-five Class AAA teams on the road.
Tuesday, January 16 OHS goes to No. 2 Austin (12-0, 9-0 Big Nine) and Friday plays at No. 5 Mankato East(12-1, 8-1). Each game is scheduled for a 7:30PM tip on KRFO AM1390. Both teams have recently defeated No. 10-AAAA Rochester John Marshall. The Packers also beat the Cougars in a close game recently.
OHS (7-4, 6-2) has won four straight. Coach Josh Williams says Austin and Mankato East could each be ranked even higher than they already are. The Huskies dropped decisions to No. 5 Apple Valley and JM earlier this season.
Tuesday's OHS schedule also includes the girls' basketball team hosting Austin at 7:30PM, boys' hockey skates at Faribault at 7PM on Kat Kountry 105FM, girls' hockey hosts Faribault at 7PM on Power 96 radio. The boys' swimmers welcome Austin to the middle school pool for a makeup of last week's weather postponement.
Tuesday's regional schedule includes Triton boys' hoops at Faribault Bethlehem Academy on KDHL AM 920. The Medford boys entertain Tri-City United. On the girls' basketball schedule Blooming Prairie is home against Cleveland and Triton hosts Bethlehem Academy. The Dodge County girls' hockey team faces Cloquet-Esko-Carlton at the Four Seasons Arena in Kasson.
