Owatonna Baseball Knocks off No. 15 Eden Prairie
The Huskies baseball team edged the Eagles 6-5 Monday night in Eden Prairie. Jacob Gauthier and Matt Bothun combined on the mound for the non-conference victory.
Owatonna (7-5, 2-3) hosts Albert Lea (6-6, 1-5) at 5PM Tuesday at Fuller Field at Dartts Park in a Kat Kountry 105FM broadcast. The game will count in the Big Nine standings. Albert Lea beat Owatonna 5-1 on April 13 in a non-conference affair.
Mankato East swept Owatonna in a makeup softball doubleheader Monday 11-3 and 11-0. The Huskies go to Albert Lea on Tuesday at 5PM. OHS boys tennis beat Albert Lea 7-0 to open the week and goes to Mankato East on Tuesday at 4:30. Owatonna boys golf beat Faribault 346-401 Monday.
Other Huskies teams in action Tuesday, May 9, include the boys lacrosse team hosting top-10 ranked Eagan at 7PM at the high school, girls track runs at the true team meet at Farmington and the girls golfers are in Mankato to face West and John Marshall.
Local baseball scores Monday show USC beating Blooming Prairie 12-4, Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial edged Medford 4-2 and Hayfield topped Triton 1-0. In softball, Blooming Prairie improved to 11-2 with a 4-2 victory over USC and Medford cruised by Glenville-Emmons 13-3.
Tuesday, Blooming Prairie baseball hosts Schaeffer Academy, NRHEG is at Maple River and Medford goes to Faribault Bethlehem Academy in a makeup game. The softball schedule features NRHEG hosting Maple River, Medford entertaining Randolph and Triton going to Hayfield.
