Owatonna held a 9-7 lead early against the No. 4 ranked Apple Valley boys' basketball team Thursday night at a packed OHS gym. A couple of short stretches cost Owatonna points and momentum in a 95-73 to the defending state champs.

A technical foul took the wind out of the sails of the Huskies, said coach Josh Williams afterward. Any letdown defensively also allowed the Eagles to show off their speed and athleticism. Duke-bound Tre Jones scored 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The Huskies were led by Andrew Jackson, who had 17 points and ten rebounds. Dalton Kubista and Jason Williamson scored 16 apiece. OHS trailed 48-35 at the half.

Owatonna (2-2) hosts the annual Federated Insurance holiday tournament Wednesday and Thursday, December 27-28. OHS opens with Minnetonka at 7:45PM Wednesday. Burnsville and Chisago Lakes meet in the 6PM game. The Huskies' games will be broadcast on KRFO AM1390.

OHS boys' hockey rallied for a 3-2 win over Rochester Mayo at the Four Seasons Centre. Nate Smith scored the game-winner with just over a minute to go with the assist to his twin brother Nick. Mitch Wiese had scored earlier in the third period on a 5-on-3 power play to even the game at 2-2.

Tyler Wencl scored in the second period to tie the game at 1-1, but Mayo retook the lead less than a minute later. The win came over a future Gopher women's hockey player. Junior Makayla Pahl plays on the boys' team in order to get more prepared for Division I hockey. Jacob Dub got the win for Owatonna (4-2). The Huskies play at North St. Paul Saturday, December 23 at 3:30PM with the game on KRFO AM1390.

The Owatonna girls had five different scorers in their 5-1 win over Rochester JM at Graham Arena Thursday night according to the Hockey Hub score sheet. Anna Herzog, Maylynn Prokopec, Margo Achterkirch, Olivia Herzog and Rilee Schmidt all scored for Owatonna. OHS plays in the Schwan Cup in Blaine beginning Thursday, December 28.

Owatonna's wrestlers blanked Rochester Century 77-0 to improve to 3-0 in the Big Nine Conference. The Huskies, who recently placed in the top ten at the tough Minnesota Christmas tournament, head back to Rochester for The Clash December 29-30.

The OHS boys' swimmers lost 96-82 at Rochester JM Thursday.
