Huskies Hockey Splits with Rockets; Boys Basketball Falls to Packers
Owatonna boys hockey scored a 4-1 win over Rochester JM on Thursday at Four Seasons. The OHS girls lost 5-4 in overtime.
The Owatonna boys hockey team completed a season sweep of Rochester John Marshall with a 4-1 victory. Carter Broton scored twice. The Huskies play at Rochester Mayo on Saturday at 7:15PM on KRFO AM 1390.
The OHS girls hockey squad lost at JM / Lourdes 5-4 in overtime. The Rockets scored the final three goals of the game, completing the comeback 16 seconds into overtime. John Marshall coach Bob Montrose stepped down just before the game. Assistant coach Jeff Lucey and softball coach Thang Nguyen served as coaches. Margo Achterkirch scored twice. The Huskies close out their regular season Saturday night against Mayo at the Four Seasons Centre.
Huskies boys basketball dropped a 72-62 decision to No. 7AAA Austin, snapping Owatonna's nine-game winning streak. Dalton Kubista led OHS with 26 points. Owatonna plays at Winona on Friday night at 7:30PM with coverage on KRFO AM 1390.
The Steele County Blades won at River Falls on Thursday 4-2. Griffin Waters, Kyle Wadden, Zach Bettmeng and Colton Sprenger each scored a goal. The Blades hold Federated Insurance night Friday at 7:30PM. It is "Stick it to Cancer" night as well.
