Cold Shooting Night Dooms Owatonna Boys in Home Opener
The Owatonna boys' basketball team dropped their home opener Tuesday 56-44 to Northfield. The Huskies were held to 19 first-half points and did not have a player in double figures in the game.
Tucker Alstead and Alex Raichle scored nine apiece for the Huskies. Dalton Kubista and Andrew Jackson had eight each. Owatonna (1-1) out rebounded Northfield (3-0) 38-27, but committed about 20 turnovers. OHS plays at Winona Friday.
The Northfield girls topped Owatonna Tuesday 62-42. The Huskies (3-3, 3-1 Big Nine) host Winona Friday. The Raiders are 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
In hockey, Mankato East edged Owatonna 2-1. OHS (4-3, 2-2) entertains Austin Thursday at the Four Seasons Centre.
Blooming Prairie boys' basketball came back from an early 11-2 deficit to beat United South Central Tuesday 45-37. NRHEG topped Medford 65-51. Triton whipped Kenyon-Wanamingo 74-36. Rochester John Marshall defeated Red Wing 83-61 behind a school-record 48 points from Matthew Hurt.
NRHEG girls' basketball downed Medford 67-57. Blooming Prairie cruised by USC 61-29. Lake City beat Triton 70-59.
Dodge County girls' hockey won at Bloomington Jefferson 3-1.
