The Bethlehem Academy Cardinals turned a pitcher's duel into a 7-0 victory tonight over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in Waterville.

Cardinals freshman pitcher Morgan Wilson kept the Buccaneers off balance throughout the game.  WEM managed just one hit in the game while BA had 9 hits off Buccaneers starter senior Gloria Cortez.

Seven different Cardinals got hits in the decisive win on the road with Wilson and first baseman junior Josie Rose clobbering two hits each.  Wilson had the only extra base hit in the game, a double, finished with 2 RBI.

Junior catcher Reagan Kangas had a hit and 3 RBI.  Third baseman freshman Anna Tobin had a hit and 2 RBI,

Wilson was very efficient in the circle throwing 85 pitches, 64 for strikes with 10 strikeouts, 1 walk, 1 hit allowed.

The only fly in the ointment as the saying goes for Bethlehem Academy would be 3 errors.  Waterville-Elysian-Morristown had 1 error in the game.

Cortez threw the first 5 innings for the Buccaneers, giving up 9 hits, 6 runs, 5 earned with 1 strikeout and 0 walks.  She threw 67 pitches, 49 for strikes.

Sophmore Emma Ready threw the last two innings and did not allow a hit.  She walked 3 batters, allowed 1 run that was earned while throwing 30 pitches 14 for strikes.

The Cardinals had 4 stolen bases in the game.  Senior Mercedes Huerta swiped half of them.

Buccaneers catcher. junior Emma Woratschka had their only hit in the Gopher Conference contest.

BA is 7-2 overall, 6-2 in the Gopher while Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is 4-3 overall, 3-3 in the conference.

The Buccaneers travel Saturday to Randolph  to play the Rockets and Visitation in a triangular event.

The Cardinals are at Blooming Prairie Monday.

  • Janesville-Waldorph- Pemberton edged Randolph by scoring 4 runs in the top of the 7th to win 4-3.

Rockets freshman pitcher Carter Raymond struck out 15 batters, walked 0, allowed 5 hits in the game.

Randolph had 3 errors, the Bulldogs 1 miscue in the game.  The Rockets had 4 stolen bases while JWP had 1.

Raymond was the only Randolph player with multiple hits including a double.  Lindsay Sundby had a double.  Kylee Carey and Chloe Vought had RBI for the Rockets.

Randolph went into the 7th inning with a 3-0 lead after scratching out a run in the 5th and adding 2 runs in the 6th inning.

Raymond threw 92 pitches, 69 strikes with 24 of 28 first pitch strikes.

  • Kenyon-Wanamingo traveled to New Richland and lost 3-1 to the Panthers of New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.

NRHEG took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the bottom of the third.  K-W scored in the top of the 4th on back-to-back base hits by pitcher, sophmore Josie Flom and junior catcher Nevaeh Greseth.

The Knights battled hard with the tying run in scoring position when the game ended.

Flom struck out 6 batters, allowed 0 walks and 6 hits.  The Knights were struck out 6 times with 0 walks, 2 hit batters and 9 hits allowed.
