The Bethlehem Academy fastpitch softball team excelled in every phase of the  game in a 8-0 win over United South Central in Faribault tonight.

Freshman Cardinals pitcher Morgan Wilson held the Rebels to 4 hits while mixing her pitches well and led the offense with 3 RBI on 3 hits in the Gopher Conference contest.

Wilson had the only extra base hit, a triple.

BA also swiped 5 bases in the game.  Two by Anna Tobin, two by Kate Trump and one for Mercedes Huerta.

Bethlehem Academy cranked out 12 hits in the game.

In addition to Wilson, Anna Tobin and Josie Rose had multiple hit games with two hits each. Rose added 2 RBI.  Sara Tobin had a RBI hit for the Cardinals.

Wilson struck out 6 United South Central batters and gave up 2 walks while BA struck out 6 times and walked 4 against USC 8th grade pitcher Mariah Anderson.

Both pitchers had excellent changeups in the chilly weather.

The Cardinals were motivated by the fact they lost to Randolph last week while the Rebels defeated the defending state champions earlier this year.

BA is 6-2 overall, 5-2 in conference play.  USC falls to 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the conference.

The Rebels are at Kenyon-Wanamingo for a 4:00 p.m. game Wednesday.

The Cardinals travel to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. game.

The Gopher Conference race is very close heading into the final few weeks of the regular season.

Elsewhere in the Gopher Conference Kenyon-Wanamingo edged Medford 6-5 when pitcher Josie Flom scored the walk-off run during a ground out in Wanamingo.

Flom hit a 2 run homer in the third inning and opened the 7th with a single.  She would advance on the bases with groundouts before scoring the winning run.

The Knights had 12 hits in the game, Medford 4.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning  after two outs were recorded the bases were loaded following 3 successive walks.  They would score.

In the third inning Medford went ahead 5-0 when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits.  Flom would allow only one baserunner the rest of the way.

Meanwhile after 7 K-W players struck out over the first 5 innings there were none the rest of the game.

The Knights scored two runs in the third, 3 runs in the 6th and the winning run in the 7th inning.  Ivette Mendoza and number 9 batter in the K-W order Vanessa Bartel each had home runs in the 6th inning.

Randolph freshman pitcher Carter Raymond struck out 14 Hayfield batters in their 4-1 win over the Vikings at Hayfield.

The Vikings did manage 6 hits in the game.

The Rockets scored in the first inning, Hayfield in the second before Randolph got a run in the third and 2 runs in the 4th inning.

Sophmore Carly Kimmes clubbed a pair of hits with an RBI and walked twice at the top of the order for Randolph.  She had a double and a home run.

Lindsay Sundby also smacked a double.  Other RBI for Randolph were recorded by Chloe Vought, Anna Olsen, Allie Gillette.

Anna Bamlet was in the pitching circle for the Vikings.  She struck out 6 batters and walked 2.

Hayfield got doubles from Jo Tempel and Allison Meier.  Meier had the RBI. Tempel and Meier had multiple hit games.

Randolph is 10-3 overall, 6-1 in Gopher action.  The Vikings are 4-3 and 3-2 in the conference.

Hayfield is at Triton Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. game while Randolph hosts J-W-P Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Maple River defeated Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 3-1 Monday.
