A New Facility Focused on Transportation Headed To Owatonna This November
Owatonna has seen a lot, and I mean a lot, of construction in the last couple of months. From Bridge Street to Cedar Avenue to the creation of a new high school, the city has undergone many changes and improvements.
And it seems the developments continue.
Cedar Valley Services is building a new facility in Owatonna to house SMART's Transportation Department of Steele County.
The building will be home to numerous buses and operate as a hub for staff. The space will have a bus washing station, meeting rooms, offices, and a locker room.
Cedar Valley Services owns and operates SMART public transportation. The company offers public transportation in Steele, Waseca, Freeborn, and Mower counties. The business has seen widespread growth over the past few years (hence the need for a new building).
The groundbreaking for the new SMART facility is November 3rd at 1 pm at 140 3rd Avenue NW in Owatonna.
Garry Hart, Director at Cedar Valley Services, stated,
"We are excited to build a new facility in Owatonna. The location will assist our program with the day to day operations of public transportation. We have several partners that are helping this project proceed, I appreciate the community support of SMART."
MnDOT provided a generous grant to aid construction costs.
According to a press release from Cedar Valley Services, A.B. Systems will work with several local vendors including, L.S. Engineers, Widseth, IMEG, Johnson Heating, Marti Electric, Olympic Fire and Protection, James Brothers, and a few others.
