Well, Thursday night was a very big night in Owatonna. There was the Huskies who had a Football game (unfortunately they lost), it was Open Mic Night, and Then there was the Downtown Streetscape Ribbon cutting!

While it was a little chilly that night many people still came for the celebration of re-opening north cedar. For those who did not know or did not attend, everyone in the community was invited to attend this event marking the re-opening of North Cedar Avenue and the $4.5 million in improvements that have been made downtown over the last two years. The Owatonna People's Press event calendar noted that “The City of Owatonna, MainStreet, and several downtown businesses are planning food, beverages, and entertainment to commemorate this milestone in Owatonna’s history.”

The event started around 5:30 or so which featured a live band performance, games, food, and of course the ribbon cutting. It was also noted that you could stop by central park to see the new park and trail plans that will be occurring!

One of our own, Rich, had the opportunity to attend and shared with me the pictures of the special event! Thank you Rich, and as always, thank you and congratulations to the community.

Owatonna Homecoming Parade Seen Through Pictures

Here is a summary of the parade seen through pictures just in case you missed it! All in all, it was fun to see all the kids (elementary through high school) enjoying the Friday and celebrating, and of course get excited over candy! It was also nice to be reminded of what a welcoming community Owatonna is and glad I got to experience a little piece of Owatonna.
