Owatonna High School girls fast pitch softball goes to Hastings on Wednesday to open Section 1AAA play. They will face Austin at 3:30PM. The winner plays the Raiders at 5:30PM.

The Huskies are the No. 7 seed in Section 1AAA. Austin is No. 10. Owatonna swept the Packers this season, winning 17-5 during a tournament, then rallying for a 6-5 victory in the conference game. The winner of the game moves into the double-elimination round and plays No. 2 seed Hastings at 5:30PM today.

Top seed Rochester Mayo hosts No. 8 Northfield and No. 9 Rochester JM. Third seed Lakeville South entertains No. 6 Winona and No. 11 Faribault. Fourth seed Farmington hosts No. 5 Century and No. 12 Red Wing.

Lakeville South is the defending section champ and went on to win the state title last spring.

All action after Wednesday will be at Todd Park in Austin. Dates are May 22, 26 and 28.

Blooming Prairie's softball team hosts Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Wednesday at 5PM in Section 1A. The Blossoms beat the Bucs 12-7 this season. BP is the second seed. WEM is third. The other subsection semifinal features Randolph at top seed Hayfield. All four teams will advance to Todd Park on Friday.
