Owatonna SeniorPlace announces a health and wellness program designed for residents 55 and older. The Aging Mastery Program will start in September.

The program was developed by the National Council on Aging. The program's goal is to "empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful small changes," according to a news release emailed from Owatonna Parks and Recreation. An informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, at 10AM at SeniorPlace. The class will begin in September. It is a 10-week course that meets one day per week.

The class will show ways to enjoy a long life through healthy physical fitness, sleep, diet, financial planning, medication management and community involvement. The NCOA website states, "Results show that AMP participants significantly increased their physical activity levels, healthy eating habits, use of advanced planning, social connectedness, and participation in evidence-based self-management programs after taking the core curriculum."
