The 728 Cadets from the Rogers/Elk River/Zimmerman schools earned top accolades at the 9th annual Harry Wenger Marching Band Festival in Owatonna June 16. The Cadets won the AAA division and the Grand Champion award according to the festival's Facebook page.

Lake City captured the Class A championship and the Wenger Prize Drawing award. Henry Sibley took top honors in Class AA. Twelve bands competed across the three classes with Owatonna performing in exhibition, as is standard for the host school.

Following the Cadets in Class AAA, Waconia was second with the Mankato 77 Lancers third. The AA order of finish was Henry-Sibley, Dassel-Cokato and Milaca. The top three in Class A were Lake City, KMS and Richfield.

Judges rate the bands in several categories including visual performance, music performance, general effect music, color guard and percussion. The top drum lines were 728 Cadets, Dassel-Cokato and Lake City.

Big crowds packed the three performance locations around Owatonna.
