Owatonna Knights of Columbus Give Money to Local Groups
The Owatonna Knights of Columbus distributed money this week from their spring Tootsie Roll fundraiser. The money helps four groups that assist people with special needs.
The groups receiving money are Cedardale Apartments, Owatonna Park and Rec Therapeutic Recreation, Owatonna Area Special Olympics and Cedar Valley Services. A small portion of the fundraiser also benefits the state Special Olympics bowling tournament.
Cedardale Apartments is using the money to update their patio furniture. Therapeutic Recreations uses it to help pay for events and bus transportation for their teen club program. Owatonna Area Special Olympics uses the money in its general fund to pay for uniforms, facility rental and state participation fees. More than 100 athletes participate in the local Special Olympics chapter.
Knights of Columbus members handed out Tootsie Rolls in late April and early May at Hy-Vee, Cash Wise, Fareway Foods, Walmart and the post office.
Owatonna Knights of Columbus will again have a booth during the Steele County Free Fair. Find it between the Beer Garden and Fair Square Park. They will sell brats and the "Holy Mojo" sandwich. The KCs will also handle beer sales at the grandstand on several nights of the fair.
