Huskies coach Josh Storm told the KRFO coaches show Saturday that he is very pleased with the off-season preparation his team has gone through.

Several players have experience from fall teams, including several who played with the Steele County Blades junior team. Captains practice has been going on since early September as an opportunity to get on the ice.

The Huskies return a healthy portion of the scoring from last season's 11-13-2 team. Noah Scheid had 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points to lead the team. Also back are Trase Wencl (14G, 7A), Kade Friedrichs (4G, 12A) and Alec Holcomb (4G, 8A).

OHS graduated their main goaltender, Greg Somers, who had an 11-10-2 record. Storm says there are several goalies battling for the top spots this year. Other graduates include Jacob Harrison, Brady Haeney, Peter Jones, Justin Stein and Jari Lindfors.

The Huskies played six overtime games last season, winning three, tying twice and losing just once. Of their 13 losses, seven were by two goals or less.

Storm talks about a tough stretch to start the season in the interview. OHS opens with No.4A St. Paul Academy on Saturday, November 21, at 1PM at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna. Radio coverage will be heard on Kat Kountry 105FM and on the RadioPup app. That's followed by all three Rochester teams, who all finished in the top half of the Big Nine.

Defending Big Nine champ Mankato West is 20th in the preseason poll at Let's Play Hockey. Defending Section 1AA champion Lakeville North won the state title last winter.
