Owatonna and Elk River have each won a Prep Bowl football state title. The Elks are the defending champs. OHS won the title in 2013. One of the schools will add a championship Saturday at 4PM at U.S. Bank Stadium. Radio coverage can be heard on Kat Kountry 105FM. Pregame should begin at 3:30PM.

Owatonna is making its fifth Prep Bowl appearance in seven state tournament trips. OHS finished second in 1982, 1998 and 2012. The Elks were the state runner-up in 1990 and are at state for the eighth time overall. While Owatonna is on a streak of eleven straight winning seasons, Elk River had a winless season in 2010, but has finished .500 or better every year except once since then, including their 13-0 championship last year.

Owatonna's purposeful plan of diversifying their offense has led to record-setting numbers in both the passing and rushing games. Quarterback Abe Havelka, receiver Noah Budach and running back Jason Williamson have set numerous season and career records.

Elk River has committed themselves to a ground-focused offense that relies on deception on who has the ball and a tight formation. The Elks have a pair of 1,000-yard rushers, plus their quarterback has 979 yards rushing. He has completed just 13 passes on the season, but five of those have gone for touchdowns.

The Elks have a Mr. Football finalist with 310-pound senior Ronnie Audette, who will play college ball at North Dakota State University.
