Monday was the first official day of practice for boys basketball teams. In Owatonna there is a scramble for gym space because the floor at the high school is not quite ready to be used.

The Huskies went 14-13 overall with a highlight win over Big Nine champ Red Wing on their floor late in the season. OHS graduated Nick Raichle, Jacob Borchert, Alex Emanuelson, Mason Thein and Eli Havelka from last season's team. Owatonna opens the season Friday, December 9, against Albert Lea. The floor should be ready at OHS by then. The Huskies play at Northfield on December 13, then travel to powerhouse Apple Valley on December 15.

NRHEG went 17-10 last season and 1-1 in the playoffs, beating Blue Earth Area before losing to WEM. The Panthers open the season December 6 at St. Clair. Their home opener is December 13 against Medford. The Tigers won only a handful of games last winter. They open their season December 5 at Tri-City United. December 6 they host Cleveland and December 9 entertain Blooming Prairie.

The Awesome Blossoms finished the season 10-17, but won a playoff game. Blooming Prairie opens the season at the Triton Invitational on December 2-3. The Cobras flirted with the .500 mark last season, finishing at 12-16 and going 1-1 in the playoffs.

Most teams will go to scrimmages on Saturday, November 26.
