Football players and chicken wings go together like peanut butter and jelly, mom and apple pie, and Owatonna football and winning. Buffalo Wild Wings and the Owatonna Quarterback Club hosted the Huskies for their team meal Thursday in advance of their season-opening game with Rochester Century Friday night at the Owatonna High School football field.

Huskies coach Jeff Williams said the commitment from local businesses is fantastic for many school groups and teams, "Living in a community where you have one high school that everybody gets behind, our business support is unbelievable. We've got like 110 advertisers in our football game program. Buffalo Wild Wings is one of those contributors...There's probably 10 to 12 organizations that B-Dubs supports. [General Manager] Pat McCabe is a great supporter of kids in our community."

Regarding the upcoming season, Williams knows the Huskies are a circle-the-date match-up every week, "Teams are going to be looking for this game on their schedule. We have to understand that we are a big game on everybody's schedule. But this group of kids has a lot of experience. We've got a lot of kids coming back from last year's team."

The Huskies captured their second straight state Class 5A title last year.

Williams says Century will put up a good fight Friday, "Rochester Century is going to be a very good football team, probably one of the top one or two teams that we see during the regular season this year and it's going to take a really good effort."

Huskies senior co-captain Carson DeKam is ready to go, "I'm so excited. I never thought senior year would come. It's our time to turn the page and be the leaders of this team. I'm just really excited [Friday] to give it my all."

Friday's game can be heard on KRFO AM 1390 and the KRFO app. After the game, tune to Kat Kountry 105FM or the Kat Kountry 105 app for the Garage Force of Faribault Friday Night Blitz recap show at 9:30 pm.
