Faribault Man Injured In Dakota County Crash

A Faribault man sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident on I-35E in Dakota County on Monday morning.

According to the State Patrol report, 34-year-old Rebecca Elizabeth Ampe of Savage was northbound on 35E in Apple Valley in her Chrysler Sebring and was being followed by a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle being driven by 54-year-old Kurt D. Witthoeft of Faribault.

The report said that traffic slowed for merging vehicles. The Harley-Davidson rear-ended the Chrysler Sebring. Witthoeft was not wearing a helmet and was taken to St. Paul Regions Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Ampe was not injured.

The accident was reported about 8AM Monday. No other details are available.
