With the Steele County Fair just a calendar page away and the new school year following quickly afterward, Owatonna High School's online registration opened this week for fall sports. The middle school signup period begins July 30.

Simply go to the Owatonna Activities homepage to get started. The school uses the FeePay system. A student must have a valid and up-to-date physical on file. Free sports physicals are being offered by Mayo Clinic-Owatonna Tuesday, July 31 for girls and Wednesday, August 1 for boys from 6:00-7:00 pm.

Fall sports signup is open for boys cross country (grades 9-12), girls cross country (7-12), football, (9-12), girls soccer (8-12), boys soccer (8-12), girls swimming and diving (7-12), girls tennis (7-12), volleyball (9-12) and cheerleading (8-12).

The participation fee is $155 per sport and $70 per activity. There is a family maximum of $465 per school year which doesn't include marching band or clay target team. Cost is less for those that qualify for reduced lunch. Scholarships are also available.

The school will host a mandatory meeting for parents and athletes on Monday, August 13 at 6 pm in the OHS auditorium. That's the same day that all sports teams hold their first official practices.

Middle school and Kids First activities include boys cross country (grades 7-8), football (7-8) and volleyball (7-8). Other sports are an extension of the high school program. The fall parent/athlete meeting is Monday, August 20 at 6 pm in the middle school cafeteria. OMS sports are $100 or $40 for those who qualify for reduced lunch.

Kids First/Owatonna Middle School football practice begins August 20. Volleyball and cross country practice begins August 27.
