Every dog is a pup on National Puppy Day, which was observed Wednesday. It was the 10th anniversary of the day that brings attention to the idea of adopting a dog.

Our dog has been a puppy for a long time. She is not a very friendly dog. Oh, she acts like she wants you to pet her. Then she screeches and tries to nip you. When she settles down to sleep she likes to cuddle with us. Just when you think you can give her a little rub behind her ears, she twirls around growling and attacks your fingers.

We still love her. She is a Pomeranian-Chihuahua. We call her Jazzy, though a friend came up with a more accurate descriptive name of Jazzmanian Devil. Our other dog had to be put down a couple of years ago. That was a tough time. Precious, her name and a fair description of her demeanor, was a Yorkie-Chihuahua. She lived to be about 15 years old.

Jazzy seems to have adapted well to being an only dog. We occasionally have dog sat for a friend and even did some dog fostering last winter. Those were not popular moves with Jazzy.
