With their 24-20 come-from-behind win in their homecoming football game on Friday, October 4 the Owatonna High School football team is the Cash Wise Foods Team of the Week. Cash Wise Foods of Owatonna and Waseca will donate a $50 gift card to a charity in the district of the winning team each week during the 2019-2020 school year.

OHS coach Jeff Williams agreed it made for a memorable experience, "I was so impressed with the crowd that turned out. The stands were packed and there were people backed up all the way around the fence line. So a lot of people got to share in that memory. It was a very fun high school football game. And one that I know our kids will remember for a long, long time."

The Huskies trailed 20-10 after Mankato West scored early in the fourth quarter. Owatonna's rally started with the ensuing kick off, "Keenan (Young) was very patient. He kind of got up into the wedge and Mankato West converged on him. He was able to pop out to our boundary and got some great blocks to seal the edge. Keenan was almost able to break it altogether. He got tracked down from behind."

The Huskies scored on a short field to make it a 20-17 game and the defense got the ball back three more times before the end of the game. Williams added on the Saturday KRFO High School Coaches Show, "Jack Foster is a great quarterback and they were running a ball control passing game. They didn't have much success on the ground...Our defensive secondary really stepped up. I think Foster was 0-for-6 in his last six attempts. So those last two drives we were able to both shut down their run game and limit them to zero yards in passing."

The top-rated Huskies play their final home game of the regular season Friday, October 11 against Mankato East at 7 pm on AM 1390 KRFO and the KRFO app. Tune to Kat Kountry 105 FM or the Kat Kountry 105 app for the "Garage Force of Faribault Friday Night Blitz" at 9:30 pm for the recap of games from around southeast Minnesota.
