Cannon River Rendezvous 2018 is Living History
I am looking forward to participating in another Cannon River Rendezvous May 24-28 near Cannon Falls on the Whitson property. It's great to get away from technology and live life like it's around the period of the 1840s fur-trade era.
The public is invited to visit 10AM to 4PM Saturday and Sunday and 10AM to 3PM Monday at 2153 Highway 19 Blvd., Stanton. You can check out all the information here.
A little bump in getting there this year is due to the Bridge replacement on Hwy. 19.
Detour during bridge replacement. Westbound Hwy 19 route is Hwy 52 north to Dakota County Road 86 west to Hwy 56 south to Hwy 19. Eastbound is reverse route.
Enjoy demonstrations of period skills and lifestyles, including black powder shooting competitions, primitive archery and tomahawk-throwing contests, and campfire cooking. The public is invited to try their hand at many of these activities, including shooting. Visit the merchants on "Traders’ Row.” Smell the aroma of food cooking. Hear the sounds of laughter and singing, music of the time, and children playing games as they did in the day.
And we honor those who have given their lives in service to our country and those rendezvous friends who have gone before us in a special service at 1pm on Monday that the public is welcome to see.
Thanks in advance to the Whitson family for again letting all of us to use their property and to the Twin City Muzzleloaders for doing a great job putting the event together as well as all the others who come and participate and demonstrate at the event. We hope to see you there.
