Owatonna baseball fans have been treated to back-to-back exciting finishes at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park this week. The only fine print is they needed to stay for extra innings to see the hometown nine come away with walk-off victories.

Wednesday's Aces thriller was well worth the three-dollar admission charge as they scored a 5-4, 14-inning win over the Rochester Roadrunners. Owatonna tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth on a pitch that got past the 'Runners' catcher. In the 14th, Dexter Leer hit a fly ball to right field to sacrifice in the winning run.

The win ended a losing skid for the Aces who close out their regular season this weekend. Owatonna plays at Tink Larson Field in Waseca Friday night at 7:30 pm, goes to Pine Island Saturday at 7:30 pm, and hosts Austin to complete a suspended game on Sunday.

On Tuesday the Owatonna American Legion squad edged Stewartville 2-1 in eight innings when Ethan Rohman drove in Isaac Gefre for the win to conclude a great pitchers battle. The teams combined for just seven hits. Three Post 77 pitchers struck out more than 15 Stewartville batters. The game also featured the return of Huskies' grad Abe Havelka to the mound after he battled through foot injuries.

Thursday, July 18 Owatonna is scheduled to host Faribault at 7 pm. That game follows a makeup game for the VFW versus Red Wing at 5 pm that was postponed earlier this week.
