At a recent medical appointment, I was thumbing through the July 15th edition of Sports Illustrated and I happened upon a familiar name and face in the 'Faces In The Crowd' section. If you look at the picture that is second from the right, that's recently graduated Faribault Falcon Softball ace, McKayla Armbruster.

I tried finding it on the Sports Illustrated website but didn't have much luck with that. If you didn't know McKayla helped lead the Falcons to a 2018 State Softball Championship, and birth in the 2019 Minnesota Softball State tournament. Under her picture in the national publication was the following blurb about the future Minnesota State Maverick.

"McKayla, a recent grad of Faribault High, struck out 33 and walked none in a 3-1, 15-inning victory over John Marshall. She went 17-1 with a 0.30 ERA and a state high 292 K's in 2019 after leading the Falcons to the 3A state title last year. McKayla will pitch at Minnesota State."

It's not every day that one can flip open a magazine like Sports Illustrated and see a familiar face. McKayla even thought it was "pretty cool" in a recent tweet on the day that the magazine hit shelves.

Congrats on being featured in the magazine, and best of luck in Mankato in the fall!
