It's not often you see kangaroos in the Midwest!

Over in Black Hawk County near Waterloo, Iowa is a city called Hudson. The small, rural community is home to around 2,500 people, plus a few kangaroos! The kangaroos are residents of Hansen Dairy Farm, and yes, you can meet them!

According to the website, one of the co-owners of Hansen Dairy Farm, Blake Hansen, went to Australia and absolutely loved the kangaroos. He decided that he wanted one as a pet, and the rest is history! Some of the kangaroos featured on the farm's Facebook page include Rocket, his wife Scooter, and their three joeys Rookie, Roodolph, and Rooby. It appears that Roodolph is a hugger!

Hansen Dairy Farm offers a couple of different tours that allow you to meet their "mob" of kangaroos. The Animal Petting Tour includes a trolley ride to the farm and then a walking tour. Guests get to pet the kangaroos, as well as cows and calves, plus make butter, sample products, and more. The cost is $12 for ages four and up and free for ages three and younger. The tour begins at 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays and you must make a reservation in advance.

There's also a Hands-On Tour where guests can do everything included in the Animal Petting Tour, but also get to feed a calf and milk a cow by hand. It's $15 for ages four and up and begins at 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It also requires a reservation. You can book both tours online HERE or by calling (319) 242-1074. The tour season ends on October 31st.
