The American Red Cross has stated that they are facing a critical shortage of type O blood. They currently have less than a two day supply. Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds. Only 7% of the U.S. population has type O negative blood but it can be transfused in an emergency for replenish any blood type. Hence, the urgent appeal for type O blood.

Those who donate blood through June 10 will receive a $5 gift card. Here's a look at upcoming blood drives in Southern Minnesota.

Thursday, May 16 at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault from 1-7pm

Saturday, May 18 at the Owatonna Christian School from 9-3pm

Monday, May 20 at Peace Lutheran Church in Faribault from 12:30-6:30pm.

Wednesday, May 22 at the West Concord American Legion Post from 1-7pm.
