Sun Sets on Huskies’ Lacrosse Season; Aces Baseball Stays Unbeaten
With the backdrop of a dazzling sunset and their fans cheering hard to the very end, the season ended for the Owatonna girls lacrosse team 14-6 at top-seed Farmington on Friday.
Owatonna (10-5) opened its season with a 13-4 loss to the Tigers. The Huskies won their playoff opener Tuesday at Mankato, but saw their season come to an end Friday. Farmington (13-2) will host Lakeville South on Tuesday in the Section 1 final. The Tigers edged the Cougars 10-9 in the final game of the regular season.
The Owatonna Aces amateur baseball squad improved to 3-0 with a 10-3 win over Waseca at Fuller Field at Dartts Park. Brandon Wolf tossed the complete game. Owatonna goes to Winona on Saturday for a 2PM doubleheader. The Aces host Champlin Sunday afternoon.
In other Saturday sports, the Owatonna boys golf team completes the Section 1AAA tournament at The Jewel in Lake City. The Huskies are seventh in the team standings, but Andrew Wall and John Swenson are in contention individually. OHS boys and girls track goes to Lakeville South for the second day of the section meet.
Medford baseball plays an elimination game Saturday against Le Sueur-Henderson in St. Peter at 4PM.
