The Steele County Blades have named three veteran players as their captains for the season. The Blades open their home schedule Saturday, October 15, in Owatonna.

The Blades announced their captain and two assistant captains in an October 3 news release. Chase Lewis will be the captain. Soren Colstrup and Colton Sprenger will serve as assistant captains. Each has spent parts of three seasons with the Blades.

Lewis is originally from Winston Salem, N.C. He played high school hockey in Faribault. Lewis is tied with former Blades player Wilson Anderle for the most points in franchise history. The Blades are starting their fifth season.

Colstrup is an Owatonna High School graduate. His hometown is Ellendale. He spent part of the 2015-16 season with Coulee Region of the NAHL. He scored 25 goals in 33 games with the Blades last season. Sprenger is from Clive, Iowa, and scored 25 goals in 34 games with Steele County last season.

In the news release, coach Nick Adamek said, "When it came to naming our leaders for this season, our staff wanted to rely on those who have shown us they can be relied upon."

Lewis said, "It's an honor, for sure." Colstrup said, "It's a good group of guys to lead." He added, "I think just being an example to guys who may not know what it takes to be a leader is probably our biggest role."

The Blades have won three straight after dropping their season opener at the Dells Ducks in overtime. Steele County plays at Blaine on Friday, October 14, before opening their home schedule at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna with games against the Ducks on Saturday, October 15, at 7:30PM and Sunday, October 16, at 3PM.
