The Steele County Blades scored early in each period on their way to a 4-3 win over Chicago on Friday night at Four Seasons Centre. The teams play again Saturday night.

Kyle Wadden scored on a breakaway goal 30 seconds into the game and the Blades led the rest of the way in a 4-3 victory over the Cougars in Owatonna on Friday night to open up a two-game weekend series. Chase Lewis scored 1:42 into the second period for a 2-0 lead.

Chicago pulled within a goal midway through the period as the teams traded tallies the rest of the night. Jake Freise put the Blades back up by two a short time later. The Cougars answered less than a minute later and it was back to a one-goal margin.

Oskari Valli converted on a power play 2:13 into the third period to extend the Blades' lead to 4-2. Chicago narrowed the gap less than five minutes later, but that closed out the scoring. Blades newcomer Justin Movalli had a pair of assists and blocked several shots.

Chicago got goals from Brennen Peters, Adam Ryffel and Andrew VanDyke. Mike Severson earned the win in goal with 34 saves. Luke Martinovich played well for the Cougars. The teams square off Saturday night at 7:30PM at Four Seasons.
