Steele County Skywarn will be conducting a Skywarn Spotter training class on Saturday, July 27. The class will run from 9-11:30am at the Owatonna Fire Hall. The free class is open to everyone. To be deployed as a Skywarn spotter you need to attend one of these spotter training classes every two years.

Spotters are trained to report weather conditions to entities such as 911 Dispatch Centers, local media, the National Weather Service and other Skywarn organizations among others. As a spotter, you are not a storm chaser. You observe and report weather  events.

Steele County Skywarn meetings take place the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Owatonna Fire Station.
