St. Mary’s School in Owatonna Names New Principal

St. Mary's School pastors and board announce Jennifer Swanson as their new principal. She succeeds Kathleen Segna, whose retirement went into effect July 1.

Swanson brings more than two decades of teaching and administrative experience with her from positions in Minnesota and Hawaii. She was most recently a sixth-grade teacher in Lake City, Minn., at Bluff View Elementary.

Father John Sauer, pastor of the Sacred Heart Parish in Owatonna, said, "We are blessed to have Ms. Swanson join us as we partner with our parents and students in faith and learning. Jennifer impressed us with her deep faith, her passion for education and her skills." Swanson has a Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction and a principal administrative license for Minnesota.

St. Mary's School will hold a back to school celebration on Thursday, August 31, from 6-7:30PM at the school. St. Mary's is a prekindergarten through eighth-grade Catholic school in Owatonna. Find out about school registration here or call (507) 446-2300.
