The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation based in Owatonna is now accepting applications for its Small Town Grants Program. Towns in the Foundation's 20 county region with a population of under 5,000 may apply for requests up to $10,000.

Nonprofit organizations and units or agencies of local, state and federal government are encouraged to apply. Examples of previously awarded Small Town Grant projects include community gardens, a trail system,and  a multi-cultural festival. it can also be used in marketing to attract new residents.

You may apply or learn more by going to the SMIF web site. You may also call Jennifer at 507-214-7040 or stop by the Foundation office. The deadline to apply is August 30, 2019 at 4pm. Awardees will be notified on October 7.
