The Steele County Humane Society and Steele County TNR, Trap - Neuter - Return, are having a Painting For Strays FunRaiser on Thursday, July 21, and it begins at 6:30PM. It was rescheduled from a day in May. It will be at the Owatonna Public Library, 105 N. Elm Ave.

The painting is a palm tree and sand castle in the shadows with a very colorful sunset named appropriately Sandcastle in the Sunset. Gallery On The Go from Faribault will provide all the directions and supplies. You create and have fun, plus take the painting home to show off. The cost is $30.

Steele County TNR has been in effect since February 1 and is a humane way to control the stray and feral cat population. It began in Europe decades ago, now in the United States. TNR has proven to reduce the size of feral and stray cats in time and improve their lives. The cats and human relationships also improve.

The Paint For Strays fundraiser will go to help vet and return, or re-home to farms for rodent control, stray and feral cats in Steele County.

Register by going to the Steele County Humane Society's Facebook page or email

It is a lot of fun and full of easy and great directions from the instructors.
