The Owatonna Public Library has announced its summer reading program, with the kick-off being the last day of school, June 1st. "Libraries ROCK!" will kick-off with the fun starting at 3 pm on June 1, and going until 6 pm. You can pick up your reading log, and there will be ice cream. What more does a person need, other than the books?

I come from a family of readers, and my daughters both had library cards as soon as they could sign their names. The library is a great place to get new books, re-read those that you loved, and be introduced to new authors. They have a great children's program, it is rare that I walk in and don't see the children's area busy.

So, on the last day of school, swing by the library, go to the Children's Services area, and get signed up for this program, or force your kids to. They will thank you when they get older. Rumor has it that there will be live entertainment at 3:30, from Big and Tall.
