Senior Emily Rahrick became Owatonna High School's new all-time leader in career victories early this season. Huskies coach Curt Matejcek told her the news after she qualified for the state meet. Her response was an understated, "Pretty cool."

Rahrick, who has played varsity tennis since the seventh grade, passed new OHS Athletic Hall of Fame member Beth Christensen fairly early this fall. Christensen ended her career with 117 victories. Rahrick has 26 wins this season and a career total of 138.

She hopes to add more this week in her first appearance at the state meet. Rahrick finished as the section runner-up, losing to a Rochester Mayo player she has beaten twice this season. The top two advance to the Baseline Tennis Center at the University of Minnesota for the state meet. Rahrick just missed state last year, taking third in the section.

Rahrick says she's a little nervous about playing at the state tournament, but is excited for the opportunity and is ready to have a fun time. She says she has changed quite a bit as a player during her time on the high school team with stronger shots and has developed new shots. Rahrick hopes to play tennis at college.
