Owatonna Wrestling, Hockey and Gymnastics Earn Road Wins Saturday
The Owatonna wrestlers earned their second straight individual tournament title Saturday, winning at Chanhassen with four champions. OHS boys hockey won at St. Francis 3-1 with a three-goal second period. The Huskies gymnasts won at Waconia, a day after winning their season-opener at Red Wing. Dance competed at Fridley.
Owatonna wrestlers taking titles at Chanhassen included Nick Staska at 195 pounds, Peyton Robb at 160, Landen Johnson at 126 and Blake West at 106. Robb was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet. Riley Becker finished second at 132. Cameron Roberts, Parker Westphal, Chase Dallman and Jerez Autridge all took third place.
Owatonna opens their Big Nine and dual meet season Thursday, December 14 at Northfield against the Raiders and Mankato West on KRFO AM 1390. Friday and Saturday the Huskies compete at the Minnesota Christmas Tournament in Rochester.
OHS boys hockey beat St. Francis 3-1 at the East Bethel Ice Arena. Nick and Nate Smith scored second-period, power-play goals, sandwiched around a Luke Kubicek goal. Baeden Meier had two assists. Jacob Dub got the victory in goal. The Huskies kept the Fighting Saints top player contained until late in the third period. Owatonna (2-1) plays at Austin Thursday, December 14 at 7:15PM on Kat Kountry 105.
Owatonna gymnastics won an invitational at Waconia Saturday. OHS won at Red Wing Friday in their season opener. The Huskies open their home schedule Friday, December 15 against the three Rochester schools at the Owatonna Gymnastics Club.
The Huskies dance team finished fourth at the Fridley competition Saturday. This is Owatonna's first year of sponsoring a dance tea
Owatonna's Noah Budach and Zach Mensink helped the south win the high school all-star football game at U.S. Bank Stadium. Budach scored a touchdown in the South's 28-14 win. . Blooming Prairie's Mitch Oswald was a captain for the team. Levi Smith of Triton played and NRHEG coach John Schultz was on the South staff.
