Owatonna VFW Baseball with More 7th Inning Heroics
Owatonna VFW Post 3723 baseball has finished off their last two games with some late inning clutch play. The beat Waseca Tuesday 8-5 with a six-run top of the seventh inning. They followed that up with a 5-4 win over Austin Wednesday. Zach Wiese delivered the walk-off hit. Owatonna trailed 4-2 at one time.
Post 3723 won 11-1 over Stewartville Monday behind a no-hitter from Sam Henson. Last weekend Owatonna went 2-2 at a tournament in the Twin Cities and spent some time this summer on their annual trip to the Battle of Omaha.
The upcoming schedule for the VFW includes a Saturday doubleheader at Cannon Falls at 11 am and a home game with Mantorville Sunday at 11 am at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park.
Owatonna's American Legion team plays at the Mulvihill Tournament over the weekend. Post 77 opens with Chanhassen Friday at 7 pm. Saturday's schedule shows games at 11:30 am and 5 pm. They play Sunday as well.
The Owatonna Aces amateur team returns to action Friday, June 29 against Stewartville-Racine at 7:30 pm at Fuller Field.
