The 14th annual STRIVE Wellness 5K Run and 1.5 mile Fitness Walk will take place on Saturday, August 19 at the Owatonna High School. STRIVE stands for Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education. The run provides scholarships to high school students that take part in the Owatonna Rotary's STRIVE Mentor Program. This program matches students with a Rotary member mentor. It isn't necessarily for those who rank highest academically but is for the student that has shown flashes of potential but for whatever reason needs a little extra coaching or encouragement or perhaps just sound advice. The students and mentors attend scheduled sessions where community members speak about success after high school and the importance of education.

You may preregister at the Owatonna Rotary STRIVE website.

The 5K course is certified and chip-timed and starts and ends at the Owatonna High School track. Registration fee is $25 if done by Wednesday, August 16, or $30 the day of the race. The kids 400M/800M runs are at 8:15AM and open to kids 12 and younger. The fee is $1. The event concludes with an awards ceremony at 10:15AM.
